The Audi A3 Sportback plug-in hybrid was the first A3 plug-in to hit the road in North America. The car was seen as a unqiue entry level luxury car with a plug-in hybrid powertrain combined with the practicality of a hatchback. The 2018 models onward generally held their values well and at the time of writing had a 16-18 mile all electric range. As with most plug-in hybrid, the car is powered by a smaller battery capacity in the case a 13 kWh battery. As such level 1 or level 2 EV chargers work well with this vehicle. If you don’t plan on upgrading your EV any time soon, then a level 1 NEMA 5-15 (regular residential plug) will work well. If you plan on upgrading your EV in the future, a level 2 NEMA 40 amp 14-50 or NEMA 6-50 TOTALEV charger will charge this car at its fastest charge rate and will also provide a much faster charger for your next plug-in or pure electric vehicle.
